Just a week or two into this project and we’re off to a “tree”-mendous start.
Thanks to some excellent work by the South Kesteven District Council Communications team, the BBC East Midlands evening news broadcast of Monday 21st October, featured the story.
The reporter Navtej Johal and film crew accompanied 4 generations of a local Newton family on a special visit to Woolsthorpe Manor, the birthplace and family home of Sir Isaac Newton.
One by one the 4 generations of Newtons Phillip, Mark, David and 2 year old Seth were introduced to the viewers. They are verified direct descendants of William Newton who was the Great Great Uncle of Sir Isaac Newton.
Councillor Frances Cartwright, Portfolio holder for Economic Development at South Kesteven District Council appealed directly to the viewers to get in touch to via social media to share their potential Newton family connections.
The story was also featured on the BBC Lincolnshire website. Within hours there was a terrific response with more than 40 separate email and social media enquiries about the project from as far afield as New Zealand.
What a way to begin this adventure!
